DEC Extends Public Comment Period on Draft Solid Waste Management Plan

Comments Now Accepted until Aug. 16, 2010

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has extended the public comment period for the draft Solid Waste Management Plan, "Beyond Waste: A Sustainable Materials Management Strategy for New York," until Aug. 16, 2010.

The proposed solid waste management framework announced in May seeks to bring municipalities, businesses and individuals together to significantly reduce the amount of materials destined for landfills and municipal waste combustion.

Comments should be submitted by Aug. 16 to Ed Dassatti, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Division of Solid & Hazardous Materials, 625 Broadway, Albany, New York 12233-7250. They can also be faxed to (518) 402-9024, or emailed to nysswmp@gw.dec.state.ny.us.
