DEC to Temporarily Close Ausable Point Road

Road will be Closed on May 8 between 10 am and 2 pm to Clean-up and Restore Power

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will close Ausable Point Road, which provides access to the Ausable Marsh Wildlife Management Area and the Ausable Point Camp Campground, on May 8, between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Ausable Point received considerable damage to trees as a result of heavy winds during and after a series of severe thunderstorms hit the area this past Friday evening.

DEC crews will remove hazard trees and limbs, clean-up trees, limbs, and other storm debris, and restore power to the campground during the closure period. The presence of public motor vehicles while these activities are underway is hazardous to workers and to the vehicles and their occupants.

DEC's website has more information for people interested in visiting the Ausable Marsh Wildlife Management Area and the Ausable Point Campground in the future.
