DEC Announces 9th Annual Jefferson County Youth Turkey Hunt

Free Program for Youth Ages 12 - 15

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Environmental Conservation Police Officers (ECOs) today announced the 9th annual spring turkey hunt for youth ages 12 to 15.

"This is the ninth anniversary of the spring turkey hunt for youth, and the two-day event includes an educational day and a hunting day. The spring turkey hunt is a great way to connect young people with the great outdoors with help from our ECOs. Both days are free to participants, and equipment will be provided by DEC," said Judy Drabicki, Region 6 Director.

Interested youth hunters must possess a New York State small game license and valid turkey tags. The event is hosted by the Watertown Sportsmen's Club and sponsored by the Northern New York Conservation Officers Association (NYCOA) and the Northern New York Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF).

Signup sheets are available at the Watertown Sportsmen's Club, 17751 Dry Hill Road, Watertown; Akins Archery, 25834 NY-12, Watertown; VanTassel's Gunsmithing, 30412 NY-37, Evans Mills; and MWR Parks and Recreation Office on Fort Drum.
