DEC to Announce Winners of 14th Annual Environmental Excellence Awards

State to Recognize Innovative New York Municipalities, Organizations and School Districts

Who: New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Acting Chief of Staff, Julie Tighe, will recognize municipalities, organizations and school districts for their innovative programs and commitment to environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and economic viability at the 14th annual Environmental Excellence Awards.

What: Since 2004, DEC's Environmental Excellence Awards have honored organizations and businesses for innovative efforts to address environmental and public health concerns.

This year's award winners include a Capital District school district empowering students, faculty and community members as environmental leaders, a Hudson River environmental advocacy organization striving for zero waste, and a Hudson Valley municipality that has eliminated all carbon emissions from its operations.
