DEC Announces Changes in Access to the Fish Creek Wildlife Management Area

Washed-out culvert impacts popular duck hunting location

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced today motorized vehicles can use the access road off Route 184 to the Fish Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA) but only to a certain point.

Approximately a ½ mile up the road, a culvert washed-out creating a barrier to further motorized vehicle access. DEC has installed a barrier to keep people from driving through the wash out. The public is welcome to park along the road near this barrier and continue access by foot.

Fish Creek WMA is a popular duck hunting location. DEC anticipates a new culvert will be in place by the end of the month. Contact the DEC Region 6 office for Division of Fish and Wildlife for updates, 315-785-2263. Learn more about the WMA on the DEC website.
