DEC Opens Caroga Lake Facility for Day Use Activities

Picnicking, Paddling, Fishing, and Swimming Available July 1 thru July 9 and Weekends Thereafter

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will open the Caroga Lake Campground in the town of Caroga in Fulton County for day use only on Saturday July 1.

The facility will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Sunday, July 9, and every Saturday and Sunday through the remainder of the summer.

Swimming will be available at the beach, unless a lifeguard is unavailable. Picnic tables are available near the beach. The boat launch can be used to launch row boats, canoes, and kayaks that are available to rent on-site.

While a contractor is upgrading the waste water system at the campground, camping is not available. However, portable toilet units are available for day users.

DEC plans to open the campground later this summer when the work is completed. The day use area will then also be open daily.
