Reinstein Woods Offering Spring Workshops for Educators

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is offering spring workshops for teachers and youth leaders at Reinstein Woods Environmental Education Center in the town of Cheektowaga. Each workshop provides educators of students in kindergarten through 12th grade with interdisciplinary activities designed to incorporate environmental education into existing curriculum.

Participants in each workshop will receive a curriculum and activity guide that includes dozens of lesson plans for both indoor and outdoor activities. Activities are correlated to national and state learning standards. Workshop attendees take part in sample activities, receive tips on managing a class in the outdoors, and receive additional resource materials related to the workshop's topic.

Additionally, teachers and administrators can request that Reinstein Woods present a specific workshop at their school. More information about these workshops can be found on DEC's website.

Reinstein Woods Environmental Education Center is located at 93 Honorine Drive, off Como Park Boulevard, about three miles from the Walden Galleria mall. To register for a workshop, or for more information, contact Reinstein Woods at (716) 683-5959.
