Reinstein Woods "Passport to Play" Event Encourages Outdoor Fun

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and Friends of Reinstein Woods invite families to earn a "Passport to Play" on Saturday, October 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve in Cheektowaga.

Families can enjoy a walk through the woods while exploring new nature play ideas to try at home. Participants will be given a Passport to Play to guide them through several outdoor fall adventures. Activities include a scavenger hunt, creating art and music with natural materials, constructing homes and houses, making leaf crowns and more. Children ages 3 to 10 will especially enjoy this event, but families with children of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend.

Reinstein Woods is located at 93 Honorine Drive, off of Como Park Boulevard in Depew. Families can register for the event by calling Reinstein Woods at 716-683-5959.

This event is part of a partnership with the Buffalo Zoo and Aquarium of Niagara to enhance nature play offerings. It was made possible through a "Nature Play Begins at Your Zoo & Aquarium" grant awarded to the Buffalo Zoo by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA). The grants are supported through a special gift from the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund. The Nature Play grants provide financial, logistical, and creative support for accredited zoos and aquariums to create innovative ways to establish or enhance family-centered nature play experiences in their community.
