Modified Cross Bow Permit
Statutory Authority: ECL Section 11-0901(16)
The Department may issue a Modified Crossbow Permit to hunters whose disability is so severe that they are physically unable to operate a mechanical device attached to a regular bow. A permit holder is authorized to use a crossbow modified with a device that requires no hand movement, since it is released by means of a persons discharge of breath.
To qualify for a Modified Crossbow Permit a physician, licensed to practice in New York State, must certify that the applicant is permanently physically incapable of arm movement sufficient to release a pre-drawn bow equipped with a mechanical device for releasing the bowstring.

- This license is valid for 5 years from date of issuance.
- There is No fee for this license.
