Access:
Lake Taghkanic State Park boat launch. Hand launch located on west shore by the beach and trailer ramp on east shore off Lake Taghkanic Road, 0.6 miles west of NY Route 82. Beach launches. Permit required--available from park manager. No motors permitted. Day use fee required in season. Boat rentals available. 10 cars and trailers, 50 cars.
Fish Species:
American Eel, Cisco, Chain Pickerel, Golden Shiner, Creek Chub, Brown Bullhead, Banded Killifish, White Perch, Rock Bass, Redbreast Sunfish, Pumpkinseed, Bluegill, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Black Crappie, Tessellated Darter, Yellow Perch
Fishing:
Reports of largemouth bass over 20 inches and chain pickerel over 25 inches. The lake also holds a decent panfish population.
Ice Fishing:
