Solving State Lands Interactive Mapper Loading Issues
If, when loading the State Lands Interactive Mapper (SLIM), you see a "LOADING..." message that does not go away, follow these instructions.
The SLIM requires that your browser allow a 3rd Party cookie be placed on your computer for the page to properly load. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer this should not be an issue, as long as cookies are enabled. If you are using an alternative browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Safari, you may have to adjust the browser settings to allow placement of this cookie.
Instructions for Firefox Users
- From the "Tools" menu item at the top of the browser choose "Options" from the dropdown list
- Click on the "Privacy" icon that appears along the top of the Options dialog box.
- In the Cookies section of the Privacy options screen, make sure that you have the "Accept cookies from sites" option checked.
- You may now either check the box labeled "Accept third-party cookies" (Firefox 3 only) or you may click on the button to the right labeled "Exceptions" (both Firefox 2 and 3).
- If you choose to accept third-party cookies, click the OK button and you are finished. The application should load properly. Please note that this method allows all third-party cookies to be placed on your computer and is less secure than choosing to allow an exception for a specific web site. You may, however, change this setting back once the cookie for this site has been placed on your computer. The application should continue to load properly until the cookie expires at the end of the session or is removed from your system.
- If you choose to create an exception for the site that hosts the SLIM application, enter http://www.spatialwebhost.com/ in the field labeled "Address of web site:" and click on the button labeled "Enable" (Firefox 3) or "Allow" (Firefox 2). The application should now load properly.
Instructions for Safari Users
- From the "Edit" menu item at the top of the browser choose "Preferences" from the dropdown list.
- Click on the "Security" icon that appears along the top of the Preferences dialog box.
- In the "Accept cookies:" section, select the radio button option labeled "Always". Close the dialog box. Reload the SLIM web page. The application should now load properly. You may change this setting back once the cookie for this site has been placed on your computer. The application should continue to load properly until the cookie expires at the end of the session or is removed from your system.
