Public Use of Wetlands Restricted Area

2009-10 Hunting Season

  1. EARLY GOOSE HUNTING SEASON: SEPTEMBER 1 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 25
    Hunters must register in person at the permit station each day no earlier than 1 hour before legal hunting hours. Hunting hours are from one-half hour before sunrise to 12:00 PM and hunters must leave the area by 2:00 PM. Hunters must provide all information as directed by posted notice at the registration box.
  2. YOUTH WATERFOWL HUNT DAYS: SEPTEMBER 19 AND SEPTEMBER 20
    Hunters must register in person at the permit station each day no earlier than 1 hour before legal hunting hours. Hunting hours are from one-half hour before sunrise to 12:00 PM and hunters must leave the area by 2:00 PM. Hunters must provide all information as directed by posted notice at the registration box.
  3. NORTHEAST ZONE WATERFOWL HUNTING SEASON: Waterfowl hunters must register or obtain daily permits at the waterfowl permit station as follows:
    1. DAILY PERMITS. Hunters must obtain a daily permit at the permit station on the following dates unless directed otherwise by posted notice. October 3 and 4
    2. REGISTRATION. Hunters must register in person at the permit station on all other days of the waterfowl season. Hunters must provide all information as directed by posted notice at the registration box.
  4. WATERFOWL HUNTING HOURS, ENTRY AND CHECK OUT TIMES
    1. OPENING DAY (October 3) Hunting hours are from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Waterfowl permit station opens 7:00 AM to begin permit processing. Hunters may enter the marsh after permit issuance and must check out by 4:00 PM.
    2. On all other days of the Northeast Zone waterfowl season hunting hours are from one-half hour before sunrise, to 12:00 PM. Hunters must check out and leave the area by 2:00 PM.
      1. DAILY PERMITS Waterfowl permit station opens no later than 1 hour before legal shooting time and hunters may enter the marsh after permit issuance.
      2. REGISTRATION Hunters may enter the marsh beginning no earlier than one hour before legal shooting time.
  5. DAILY PERMIT HUNTERS MUST SUBMIT their take for examination at the permit station before leaving the area.
  6. NORTHEASTERN ZONE DUCK SEASON IS CLOSED FROM OCTOBER 12 THRU OCTOBER 22.
  7. MIGRATORY BIRD HARVEST INFORMATION PROGRAM (HIP) All migratory bird hunters are required to register through the HIP program. To register call 1-888-427-5447 or register on line.
  8. UPLAND GAME (BIG GAME AND SMALL GAME) HUNTERS must register by personal appearance at the waterfowl permit station each day of any upland game hunting season. Registration begins no earlier than one hour before sunrise and access to hunting areas is by foot only.
  9. RULES AND REGULATIONS It is the responsibility of all hunters to know and abide by the rules and regulations. Rules and regulations are available at the waterfowl permit station and the Bureau of Wildlife office in Watertown during normal business hours (315) 785-2261.
  10. YOU MAY LOSE YOUR HUNTING PRIVILEGES for violating the terms of a permit, rules and regulations, any violation of the conservation law, or other law.
