Sand Pond Accessible Campsite

Directions:

Coming from state Route 12 take the turn on Main Street into Glenfield (about 6-7 miles south of Lowville). Just past the Central Hotel you turn right on the Greig Road and cross the Black River. Approximately .4 miles past the bridge turn left on the Otter Creek Road. At the "T" intersection turn left on the Pine Grove Road for approx .5 miles and take a right on the Chases Lake Road (by the horse trail sign) and proceed for approx 4 miles to the Sand Pond Road intersection where you turn right. Travel for approx 1.1 miles where the Sand Pond Road (paved) turns to the right and a gravel road continues straight. Proceed on the gravel road for a short distance until you see a gate on your right. This is the road to the campsite (known as the Branaugh Road). There is a locked gate and the road is only open to car and truck travel (no ATV's) by CP-3 permit holders. Permit holders can call the Lowville DEC office (315-376-3521) and get the lock combination. Call ahead to confirm the combination before each planned trip, as it changes. It is approximately one-half mile to Sand Pond.
