NYS Striped Bass License Plate

Support NY's Marine and Coastal District

Senator Owen H. Johnson and Assemblyman Robert K. Sweeny sponsored legislation in 2002 creating New York's newest "cause" license plate - the "Marine & Coastal District of New York." A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this attractive plate featuring the Montauk Lighthouse and a striped bass will help benefit the Marine and Coastal District of New York Conservation, Education and Research Fund.

Assemblyman Robert Sweeney said, "Funds raised from the sale of the Marine and Coastal District plate will be used to educate the public, fund important marine research, and help preserve the marine and coastal environment. Saltwater recreational activities are vitally important to our region's economy." "It has been estimated that the expenditures by recreational anglers for boats, bait, fuel, charter boat fares, and tackle result in more than one billion dollars in economic activity in the marine and coastal district of New York," Sweeney added.
