Kahlers Pond, East Moriches
Kahlers Pond, also known as Mill Pond, is a small pond located in East Moriches just north of Merrick Road (Route 80).
Physical Features:
Area: 13 acres
Maximum depth: 6 feet
Access:
Town of Brookhaven Park. Restrooms and a playground are among the amenities available.
Directions: Take Montauk Highway east to East Moriches. Look for pond and park on north side of road.
Restrictions: Hand launched boats are allowed; shoreline access is available but limited.
Fish Species:
Naturally reproducing - Largemouth Bass, Chain Pickerel, Bluegill, Pumpkinseed, Yellow Perch, Carp, Brown Bullhead
Stocked - Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout
Fishing:
The pond contains good populations of largemouth bass and chain pickerel as well as sunfish. In addition, trout are stocked in the spring and fall.
