Bonus DMPs
Bonus DMPs will be available in WMUs 1C, 3S, 4J, 8C and 9A during the 2011-2012 hunting seasons.
Bonus DMPs are issued to increase hunter participation and antlerless deer harvest in areas with abundant deer. Bonus DMPs are available to hunters who take an antlerless deer on a Deer Management Permit (DMP) or a Bonus DMP in one of the units listed above. Bonus DMPs may be used only in the WMU for which they are issued and may be valid for antlerless deer only or deer of either sex, as indicated on the permit. Bonus DMPs that are used to take an antlerless deer may be replaced with another Bonus DMP. Bonus DMPs used to take an antlered deer will not be replaced. No fee will be charged for the Bonus DMP. Bonus DMPs are not transferable.
To obtain a Bonus DMP, hunters must comply with the following application requirements:
- The head (NOT frozen) or whole carcass of an antlerless deer taken on a Deer Management Permit or Bonus DMP for one of the above WMUs, and the completed DMP Report Tag (the smaller part) must be brought by the successful hunter to the appropriate checking location listed below.
- Upon completion of a biological check and collection of harvest information, a Bonus DMP for the same unit will be issued.
WMU 1C Bonus DMP Issuance
Bonus Deer Management Permits for WMU 1C are available to hunters who take antlerless deer on any Unit 1C DMPs (original or Bonus DMPs), during either the Suffolk County regular (bowhunting-only) or firearm season. Bonus DMPs are valid only in WMU 1C during both the regular season and the special January firearms deer season.

DEC Wildlife Staff will generally be available to check WMU 3S deer and issue "Bonus" WMU 3S permits at the Region 3 Office in New Paltz on weekdays (except holidays) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. commencing on Monday October 17. It is strongly advised that an appointment be made by calling (845)256-3098 prior to arrival to ensure that staff are available to check your deer.
WMU 4J Bonus DMP Issuance
There are 2 locations available to obtain "Bonus DMPs" for Unit 4J
Schenectady DEC Office
(1130 North Westcott Road in Rotterdam near the intersection of Broadway and Curry Rd)
Wildlife staff will be available at the Region 4 Office to check WMU 4J deer and issue "Bonus" 4J permits as listed below. After November 16th, deer will be checked at the Schenectady Office by appointment only. For an appointment, call (518)-357-2154.

A check station will also be operated by Region 4 Wildlife Staff at Five Rivers as listed below. (The check station will be at the Vehicle Repair Garage.) Look for Check Station signs when you arrive. After November 12th, deer will be checked at Delmar by appointment only. Do not just show up because there will probably be nobody there!! Wildlife staff formerly stationed in Delmar now work at the main DEC office in downtown Albany. For an appointment, call Chuck Dente (518-402-8883).

Avon DEC Office
The Deer Check Station at the Avon Regional Office is located on Route 5/20 (6274 East Avon-Lima Road), about 1½ miles east of Interstate 390, Exit 10.

DEC Wildlife Staff will be available to issue "Bonus" WMU 9A permits at the Region 9 Office in Buffalo. Bonus DMPS will be available weekdays (except holidays) during all southern zone deer seasons from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is strongly advised that you call 716-851-7010 prior to arrival to ensure that staff are available to check your deer.
