Upper Hudson Woodlands - Fishing, Boating and Hunting Access RMP

The State of New York acquired a working forest conservation easement with public recreation rights on the Upper Hudson Woodlands Conservation Easement lands (formerly Finch Lands) in December 2010. These lands fall within Essex, Hamilton, Saratoga and Warren Counties, in the Towns of Greenfield, Indian Lake, Lake George, Long Lake, North Creek, North Hudson and Warrensburg.

Public rights acquired on the Upper Hudson Woodlands Conservation Easement lands include fishing, boating and hunting access on 46,242 acres, across six tracts. In order to implement these rights for public use and enjoyment, the Department developed a recreation management plan (RMP) for the area that addressed these rights specifically. The RMP contains facilities and improvements which are part of Governor Andrew Cuomo's Hunting, Fishing, Hiking and Recreational Access Projects (link leaves DEC website.)

Interested in visiting the Upper Hudson Woodlands Conservation Easement? Information on visiting portions of these lands is included in the webpages for Blue Mountain Wild Forest, Jessup River Wild Forest and Vanderwhacker Mountain Wild Forest.

If you have questions about the RMP, please e-mail us at R5.ump@dec.ny.gov.
