Willowemoc Wild Forest - Unit Management Plan

Located in the southwest corner of the Catskill Park, the Willowemoc Wild Forest contains more than 14,800 acres of Forever Wild Forest Preserve. It lies largely within the northern Sullivan County Towns of Neversink and Rockland, with small appendages in the Towns of Denning and Hardenburgh in Ulster County. The Wild Forest surrounds the Mongaup Pond State Campground and abuts the Big Indian Wilderness.

For a description of recreational opportunities in the unit, please visit the Willowemoc Wild Forest recreation page.

Status of the UMP

The Department adopted a Unit Management Plan (UMP) for the Willowemoc Wild Forest in 1991. If you have questions about the UMP, please e-mail us at r3.ump@dec.ny.gov.
