Northern Flow River Corridor
As part of the historic Champion land deal announced in 1999, the State acquired 29,000 acres of lands along the famous Northern Flow River Corridors that flow north into the St. Lawrence River, including lands along the Deer, Grass, St. Regis and Oswetgatchie Rivers. These lands (Santa Clara, Tooley Pond and Croghan Tracts), which include more than 70 miles of river front, also contain ecologically sensitive wetlands, boreal forest, and some of the best canoe routes in the nation. These river corridors are now open to the public for the first time in more than a century, providing significant new outdoor recreational opportunities.
