Rockwood Hall Property
In December of 1998, OPRHP acquired the Rockwood Hall property. It is comprised of 88 upland acres that provide magnificent views down the Hudson River to New York City and up to Bear Mountain and 35 acres of underwater lands. It is adjacent to the Rockefeller State Park Preserve and is part of the original William Rockefeller estate. The property has several miles of trails, carriage roads and bridges all leading throughout the estate grounds and overlooking the Tappan Zee. A Frederick Law Olmsted designed landscape, the property has a variety of tree species and habitat types. The area currently supports heavy public use for walking, birding and hiking. From 1998-2000, other gifts from the Rockefeller family, totaling 77 acres in conservation easements and 5 acres of fee acquisition, have added to the Rockefeller State Park Preserve.
