Land and Conservation Easement Acquisitions: First Quarter 2009

Addition to Braddock Bay Wildlife Management Area
Location: Town of Parma, Monroe County
Size: 237.50 acres
ID: FWL Monroe 25.01
Description: The property is irregularly shaped with approximately 1,700 feet of frontage on the eastside of Bennett Road. The parcel also has frontage on West Creek to the north and Salmon Creek to the south.

Braddock Bay Management Area

Addition to Long Island Pine Barrens
Location: Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County
Size: 63 acres
ID: PB Suffolk 98.05
Description: These lands are open and wooded with relatively level topography surrounded on three sides by lands owned by the County or the State as part of the Pine Barrens preserve. The parcel contains several undeveloped streets owned by the Town. The property is bounded on the south by County Route 111 (Eastport Manor Road) and on the north by Hot Water Street.

NYC Watershed Protection Easements

Location: Towns of Andes, Colchester, Hamden, Harpersfield & Middletown, Delaware County; Towns of Hunter, Jewett & Lexington, Greene County; Town of Kent, Putnam County; Town of Wawarsing, Ulster County
Size: 5,951.13 acres

Description: These lands were acquired in fee by the City of New York under its Water Supply Watershed Protection Program. In addition, through the 1997 Watershed Memorandum of Agreement with the State of New York, the City further protects the properties by conveying Conservation Easements to the State.

New York City Watershed Program

Addition to Oswego State Reforestation Area #9
Location: Town of Redfield, Oswego County
Size: 50 acres

Description: The property is surrounded on three sides by O'Hara State Forest, Oswego State Reforestation Area #9. This acquisition will consolidate this State Forest and significantly reduce boundary line maintenance. It will also serve as a buffer from development pressure which is high in the Salmon River Corridor.
