Addition to Adirondack Forest Preserve
Location: Towns of Chesterfield & Lewis, Essex County
Size: 200 acres

Description: The parcel is located westerly of N.Y.S. Route 9 & I-87 and is bounded on the east and north by other State lands. The access road to the observer's cabin and Poke-O-Moonshine fire tower crosses this property and has been used by N.Y.S. without benefit of a legal ROW. It is a very popular recreational trail and this acquisition will ensure that the trail/access remains available to the public.

Description: The lands have important ecological and public recreational value including over 14,000 acres on Lyon Mountain, a mile of undeveloped shoreline on Chazy Lake and the 1,700 acre Ellenburg Mountain tract that consolidated 7,100 acres of adjoining state Forest Preserve.

Description: Wooded and vacant parcel which will become an addition to Columbia County Reforestation Area #1. Irregular in shape, the parcel has frontage on the west side of County Route 5 and both sides of Macedonia Road. The acquisition will also provide further protection of the Taconic Ridge Trail adjoining Beebe Hill State Forest plus increases the potential for recreational opportunities as trail and road systems within the State Forest may be extended and improved.

Description: The property has frontage on the westerly side of N.Y.S. Route 3 and is mainly clear and wooded with some remnants of old buildings on the site. The property is reported to have historic significance in that the basement of the old home was part of the Underground Railroad.

Addition to the Genesee Valley Greenway
Location: Town of Belfast, Allegany County
Size: 5.2 acres

Description: The parcel is irregular in shape, traversed by a section of Black Creek and bounded on the northwest by over 400 feet frontage on Little John Road and an abandoned railroad bed to the southwest. Additionally, the parcel contains approximately 500 feet of the Genesee Valley Canal and towpath, a canal turning basin and the Lock 90 stonework. The State acquisition will consolidate State lands and allow for the preservation and repair of Lock 90, one of the few remaining Genesee Valley Canal locks with most of the stonework intact.

Addition to Long Island Pine Barrens - AVR Ridge
Location: Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County
Size: 35 acres

Description: These lands will become part of the Longwood Natural Resource Management Area. They are part of a larger assemblage of pith pine and oak forest that sits in the center of the longest corridor of undeveloped land running north-south in the ecologically sensitive Central Pine Barrens region.

Location: Towns of Colchester and Roxbury, Delaware County; Town of East Fishkill, Dutchess County; Town of Ashland, Greene County; Towns of Conesville and Gilboa, Schoharie County; Town of Olive, Ulster County.
Size: 7,883 acres

Description: These lands were acquired in fee by the City of New York under its Water Supply Watershed Protection Program. In addition, through the 1997 Watershed Memorandum of Agreement with the State of New York, the City further protects the properties by conveying Conservation Easements to the State.

Location: Town of Camillus, Onondaga County

Description: Fee acquisition of a section of Nine Mile Creek that is divided into multiple channels and will provide additional fishing opportunities and space to locate a parking lot. The property is located on the easterly side of N.Y.S. Route 174, between Marcellus & Camillus.

Sable Highlands Conservation Easement
Location: Towns of Ellenburg, Dannemora & Saranac, Clinton County; Towns of Bellmont & Franklin, Franklin County
Size: 84,000 acres

Description: The property is vacant, wooded land located along the boundary of Clinton and Franklin County, just west of Upper Chateaugay Lake. Water bodies include Ingraham Pond, Plumadore Pond, and river frontage on the Saranac, Salmon and Trout Rivers. The easement provides some public recreation access, maintains private recreational leases while allowing timber harvest & management according to certified conservation standards.

Description: The property is located just southeast of the Village of Pulaski at the intersection of NYS Route 13 & County Route 2A, with frontage on the Salmon River. The property was acquired as open space, however, the former Portly Angler Lodge buildings will be managed by the Division of Operations with plans for a new combined Forest Ranger/Environmental Conservation Officer training academy.

Shinnecock Bay
Location: Town of Southampton, Suffolk County

Description: The property has frontage on Shinnecock Bay of the South Fork of Long Island, further being on the north side of Meadow Lane, east of Road "D". The bulk of the property is wetlands with a small portion upland.
