Adirondack Forest Preserve - Moose River Corridor
Location: Town of Webb, Herkimer County
Size: 8.3 acres

Description: This property is vacant land with 1,271 feet of frontage on the Middle Branch of the Moose River. It is mostly wooded with a cleared, north-south swath occupied by the Old Forge Water District water line.

Adirondack Forest Preserve - Working Forest Easement
Location: Town of Newcomb, Essex County
Size: 2,979 acres

Description: This acquisition is to protect a portion of the former National Lead/Tahawus property, which among other things, is the southern gateway to the popular High Peaks Area of the Adirondacks. This will permit continued recreational opportunities for the public through additional hiking, hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. The underlying fee owner is The Nature Conservancy, Inc., which will ultimately sell these lands to a private forest products or investment company to ensure sustainable forestry practices and conserving natural resource value while preventing forest fragmentation.

Location: Town of Burns, Allegany County

Description: This acquisition is an inholding that consolidates State Forest lands and provides an enhanced buffer for the nearby Finger Lakes Trail/North Country Trail.

Bear Pen - addition to Green-Delaware Reforestation Area #1
Location: Town of Roxbury, Delaware County
Size: 50.1 acres

Description: The property is in a remote mountainous location south of Roundtop Mountain and is steep, wooded with access through a right-of-way to the south and Vega Valley. The property adjoins, and will be an addition to, Green-Delaware Reforestation Area #1, also known as the Bearpen/Vly/Roundtop mountain complex.

Birch Run Mitigation Ponds
Location: Town of Allegany, Cattaraugus County

Description: The property was originally managed by NYS DOT as wetland mitigation for the construction of Interstate 86. DEC will develop the site for public recreation by developing facilities for access for fishing, waterfowl hunting and wildlife viewing for persons with disabilities.

Description: The acquisition is a conservation easement that protects resources and compliments adjoining Forest preserve lands. It is bisected by Flugertown Road.

Crum Elbow Creek Fishing Access
Location: Town of Hyde Park, Dutchess County
Size: 13.7 acres

Description: The project is situated just north of South Cross Road and adjoins the westerly side of Route 9-G. The Crum Elbow Creek is a State stocked trout stream and the project falls within an area that is annually stocked with 800 yearling brown and 800 yearling rainbow trout. Access is provided to approximately 2,200 feet of the west bank and 2,350 feet of the east bank of the stream as it flows through the property.

Addition to Franklinton Vlaie Wildlife Management Area
Location: Town of Broome, Schoharie County

Description: This parcel is vacant, wooded land near the westerly boundary of the wildlife management area with frontage on Woods Road. This acquisition will also preclude development in close proximity to an active bald eagle nest.

Description: The subject properties are former agricultural land located near the shoreline of the Hudson River with considerable frontage on Rod & Gun Road with excellent views of the Hudson River.

Addition to Wilton Wildlife Preserve
Location: Town of Northumberland, Saratoga County
Size: 3.4 acres

Description: The property makes up the northwestern portion of the Karner Blue Butterfly site called the Colebrook Road Christmas Tree Farm. This site contains the second best population of this endangered species in the state. The amount of lupine (the only food plant for the Karner Blue) present on the site is staggering. The site also contains sufficient nectar plants for the large number of butterflies occurring there. The state threatened Frosted Elfin Butterfly also exists on the site.
