The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has added a link to a translation service developed by Microsoft Inc., entitled Bing Translator, as a convenience to visitors to the DEC website who speak languages other than English.

The above graph shows a decrease in forest land area from nearly 30 million acres in 1600 to approximately 6 million acres in the late 1800s. Forest land area then began a continuous increase to 18.6 million acres in 2000 at which point the timeline ends.
