Directory of Secondary Wood-Using Industry
Recognizing that the wood-using industry is both an extremely important part of New York's economy and the chief driver of forest harvest management, this publication serves to list and describe wood products companies in New York State that produce value added products produced primarily from wood.
The directory is not an exhaustive list. Using several sources of data to develop a mailing list, a voluntary survey was mailed to all possible companies considered to be secondary wood products manufacturers during summer 2005. It is estimated that the directory represents about one-third to one-half of the secondary wood-using businesses in New York that have at least one employee. Businesses in the New York City metropolitan area are under represented to the greatest extent due to a low survey response rate from the region. The listings contain information that was provided voluntarily on the returned survey form.
The directory is available to all businesses as well as other interested parties free of charge. It is well suited to be utilized by businesses in order to find new markets or new suppliers of products and/or services. Hundreds of copies are distributed to a wide variety of users annually. In particular, copies are provided to buyers and others that visit the New York State Forest Products space at several wood industry supply trade events.
