4. The Hudson River Watershed
Most of the Hudson's vast watershed lies within New York State
The sources of much of the river's remaining pollution are dispersed throughout the river's 13,390-square-mile watershed-the land from which water drains into the Hudson. This non-point source pollution includes oil and grease from parking lots and highways, excess fertilizers and pesticides from farms and lawns, and sediment from land left bare by construction and other human activity.
