Summary of the Hudson River Preassessment Screen

In their capacity as Trustees of the Hudson River, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the United States Department of the Interior have developed a preassessment screen as the first step in a natural resource damage assessment of the Hudson River.

The preassessment screen addresses potential claims for natural resource damages for injury to, destruction of, or loss of natural resources resulting from the release of hazardous substances to the Hudson River. The preassessment screen also documents the trustees' determination that further investigation and assessment are warranted. The trustees of the Hudson River have been coordinating with the USEPA on the NRDA process.
