Free Fishing Days Scheduled

DEC has scheduled free fishing events in each of its nine regions and as well as the state's annual free fishing weekend scheduled for June 28 and 29.

Proposed Regulations for Clean Air

Proposed Part 215 would ban the open burning of all materials including household refuse (garbage), paper materials, leaves and yard wastes with some specific exceptions. Proposed Part 242, the CO2 Budget Trading Program, represents the State's commitment under the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). RGGI is an agreement among ten states to cap and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.

Hudson River Estuary Grants

Approximately $1 million is available to help support projects that protect and enhance estuary resources, increase public awareness, and provide access to the Hudson, among other restoration goals. The deadline for applications is June 27.

Urban and Community Forestry Grants

$900,000 in grants will be available to municipalities and others for tree inventories and management plans; tree and shrub planting and maintenance; and green infrastructure projects including green roofs and raingardens.
