"Conservationist" Dedicates Upcoming Issue to the Hudson-Champlain Quadricentennial
A Celebration of Human and Natural History

Works by renowned artist LenTantillo such as the "Albany Dayliner" will be featured in the August issue.
To commemorate the quadricentennials of Hudson's and Champlain's voyages, and the bicentennial of Fulton's first steam-powered trip up the Hudson in his boat Clermont, the August issue of Conservationist is celebrating these three anniversaries with a blend of intriguing articles and award winning photography. Along with stories on explorers and pioneers, read how the island we now know as Manhattan once teemed with natural riches before emerging as the teeming metropolis it is today in author Eric Sanderson's "Mannahatta Project: New York City's Natural History." Let your eyes feast on a visual banquet of gorgeous river scenes in "Hudson River Portraits," by photographer Greg Miller.

The Bluff Point lighthouse on Valcour Island in Lake Champlain will be part of a showcase of lighthouses along the New York side of Lake Champlain.
The commemorative issue will also delve into the area's rich history through the extraordinary artwork of renowned artist Len Tantillo, who so perfectly captures the majesty of the Hudson River Valley on canvas. Another article showcases the lighthouses found along New York's portion of Lake Champlain's shores.
