Suffolk County Shellfish Areas Temporarily Closed

Shellfishing in the Huntington Bay and Lloyd Harbor area is closed
Approximately 5,200 acres, covering all the shellfishing lands in Huntington Bay and Lloyd Harbor south of a line that runs from the northern tip of Lloyd Point to the northern tip of Eatons Neck Point have been closed due to detection of a marine biotoxin. Depending on test results, these areas will be reopened as soon as possible. A recorded message about the status of shellfish areas is available by calling 631-444-0480. The message will be updated during the course of the temporary closure.
Deadline Nears for Summer Camp Applications
Families should act quickly in submitting applications for the Department of Environmental Conservation's (DEC) 2008 summer environmental education camps. DEC camp sessions begin June 29, 2008. The cost per camper for a one-week stay is $250. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
