New "Green Living" Feature on DEC's Website
The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) recently launched a new feature on its website--"Green Living"--which offers tips, ideas and resource suggestions for making environmentally responsible choices in your life. The Green Living main page can be found under the category Public Involvement and News.
Ten Things...

Thinking about spring cleaning? Try using one of the suggested less-toxic products
One of the topics you'll find on the main page is '10 Things You Can Do to Help the Environment Right Now.' This section provides quick and easy suggestions relevant to the current season. Examples from this season's list include ideas for less toxic spring cleaning, how to combat crabgrass and what to do with old tires. Each season will highlight ten new tips, so be sure to check back often.
Environmental Myth Busters
Also on the main page is 'Myth Busters,' which is devoted to exposing and explaining the real facts behind commonly held environmental myths. Do septic system additives really work? Go to Myth Busters to find out. Each season, DEC experts will bust another myth.
Additional New Pages Planned
Even more tips for the environmentally conscious will be available on new pages being planned. These pages will be devoted to specific topics: "Save Energy and Water," "Use Less Toxic Products," "Protect Open Space and Fish and Wildlife Habitat," "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle," "Connect with Nature" and "Keep Air and Water Clean." Those already engaged in living sustainably will be challenged by some of the intermediate and advanced tips that are in the works.
Feedback Welcome
Visitors to Green Living are encouraged to provide feedback, submit ideas for new tips or suggest myths that need to be debunked by e-mailing the Webmaster.
