Workshop on Implementing European Union's REACH Legislation

The workshop will help companies learn of the new chemical manufacturing requirements
A one-day workshop on implementing the European Union's (EU) new REACH legislation is scheduled for Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at the state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) headquarters in Albany. REACH--registration, evaluation and authorization of chemicals--represents the recently adopted overhaul of the chemicals management system in the EU.
Any company that exports chemicals or chemical mixtures into the EU, competes in Europe, the US or elsewhere with products meeting European standards, or exports finished products to Europe, is affected by REACH. This workshop will help US companies prepare for REACH and remain competitive by making more informed decisions about chemicals and alternatives.
Representatives from DEC and the Lowell Center for Sustainable Production will conduct the workshop jointly. It will begin at 8 AM with late registration and a continental breakfast and continue until adjournment at 4:15, with morning, lunch and afternoon breaks. The cost of $75 includes meals and workshop materials.
