Environment DEC

From the February 2007 issue
"How Cool is That?!"
DEC's Diversity Program provides outdoor recreation and natural resource experiences to youths, especially those from urban and underserved areas who would not otherwise have the opportunity. Join Albany sixth grader, Cassia Gravesande, on a field trip to Rogers Environmental Education Center in Sherburne as she and the other kids take their first crack at ice fishing, snowshoeing, and even a challenging rope bridge!
Outdoors experiences for children Cassia's age leave a lasting impression at a formative time in a child's life. Along with exposing youngsters to nature, excursions like these lay a foundation for further exploration of how people need to care for the environment. And as children grow, DEC's diversity program provides more opportunities for them to learn and challenge themselves through programs like DEC's summer camps.
