New Features on DEC's Website Improve Access to Information
DEC has added two new Internet-based services enabling users to find important information 24 hours a day. Just go to DEC's website to find our environmental permit application search and updates on IBM's cleanup in Endicott.
Permit Application Search
DEC's permit application search includes all applications received by DEC since 1988. Searches can be done using the DEC-assigned permit application number, or you may search by county, then by city or town, type of permit, and date of application receipt or final decision. Information returned from the search will include the name of the applicant, the application's status, descriptions of the proposed activity, and the types of permits requested.
Environmental Justice Policy
This new web-based permit service supports the goals of DEC's Environmental Justice policy by providing opportunities for greater public participation, particularly by minority and low-income communities, in the permit process. The permit application search increases public access to information that was formerly only available to DEC staff. Those without Internet access can call the DEC Office of Environmental Justice's toll-free number, 1-866-229-0497, for information about permits or any other environmental justice issues.
IBM Endicott Cleanup
DEC's website now provides information on the status of the Village of Endicott Vapor Migration Project at the former IBM Endicott Facility.
Information about the cleanup can also be obtained using toll-free phone numbers established by both DEC (1-800-388-8223) and the State Department of Health (1-800-458-1158 x27890).
