Applications Due for Governor's Pollution Prevention Award
Applications are being accepted for the Tenth Annual Governor's Awards for Pollution Prevention. The awards honor organizations that have implemented projects or programs that go beyond compliance with environmental laws and regulations to reduce pollution at its source.
Previous winners have included businesses, government agencies and not-for-profits of varying sizes for a diverse array of pollution prevention successes.
Interested in Applying?
The applications will be judged by a panel of representatives from environmental and governmental organizations and the business community. Applications are due by Monday, June 30, 2003 and the awards will be presented at the New York State Recycling and Pollution Prevention Conference to be held in October 2003.
Applicants must be in compliance with their permits and be in good standing with all provisions of the Environmental Conservation Law. Projects submitted for consideration must have been completed or in progress by December 31, 2002.

Pollution Prevention Works
Since the inception of the program in 1994, the Governor's Awards for Pollution Prevention have been presented to 62 organizations whose combined efforts have led to a reduction of more than 30 million pounds of hazardous waste, more than 50 million pounds of solid waste and more than 180 million pounds of atmospheric gases.
