DEC Announces Funding to Develop New Boat Launching Site on Lake Champlain
Recently, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced $700,000 in funding for development of a new boat launching facility on Lake Champlain in the City of Plattsburgh, Clinton County. This project is funded through stewardship funds from the state Environmental Protection Fund (EPF). DEC also will provide its expertise to ensure that the boat launch meets modern design standards for such facilities

The future boat launch is part of
a waterfront revitalization project
for the City of Plattsburgh
The boat launching facility is part of a larger scale waterfront revitalization project in the City of Plattsburgh. Although the site still is under design, preliminary plans call for a three-lane launch ramp, boarding docks, staging areas and a traffic pattern that will blend in with the improvements already made to this lakeshore location. It is estimated that the boat launching facility will be available for use during the 2008 boating season.
