"Empire State Outdoors" Debuts

to get the right shot
"Empire State Outdoors" is a new half-hour statewide television program that will showcase New York State's outdoor heritage and tremendous natural resources, and encourage people to take advantage of the wide array of recreational opportunities available throughout the state.
Empire State Outdoors is designed to:
- Highlight some of New York's magnificent natural resources
- Bring the outdoors to viewers in an interesting and educational way
- Encourage participation in a wide variety of outdoor recreational activities
- Communicate the need for stewardship and sound management of the state's natural resources
Stories, News, Education and Tourism
Empire State Outdoors will feature a magazine format and will originate from different locations throughout the state. Each program will include feature stories, as well as regular segments like the outdoor classroom, a short piece featuring an environmental education topic.

The show will also feature natural resource tourism opportunities available in all regions. Topics for broadcast include: sport fishing on Lake Ontario and Lake Erie; kayaking on the Hudson River; marine fishing off the coast of Long Island; camping in the Adirondack Forest Preserve; birdwatching in the Montezuma wetlands; restoring the river otter; hiking the Finger Lakes trails; youth turkey hunting; "Becoming an Outdoors Woman," and birds of prey.
Program Schedule
Empire State Outdoors will air for the first time on Saturday, December 10 on WXXA-TV in Albany. All other broadcast regions will begin either Saturday, December 17 or Sunday, December 18. Check local listings for times on these ESO stations:
