Central New York CSC Coordinator
Prepare Energy and Climate Action Plans and Adopt Land-Use and Transportation Policies to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions
The Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board (CNY RPDB), designated by NYSERDA as the regional coordinator for the Climate Smart Communities program, will assist the 13 communities in the five-county region that have taken the Climate Smart Communities pledge to prepare local energy and climate action plans, adopt local land-use and transportation policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and identify and implement clean-energy demonstration projects.
To accomplish these goals, the CNY RPDB and its consultant, ICF International, will prepare a greenhouse gas inventory, which will allocate regional emissions to each of the region's communities in order to establish a baseline for guiding local action and measuring progress. The CNY RPDB encourages the region's municipalities to take the Climate Smart Communities pledge and to participate in the program, which will offer technical assistance tailored to each community's needs. Interested municipalities can contact Chris Carrick for information or to set up a one-on-one meeting.
