The Town has requested the
reissuance of a permit to continue mining sand and gravel
within a 12.95 acre life of mine. The site was originally permitted by the Department in
November 2001 and the permit expired October 31, 2006. The applicant now proposes to
continue mining within this perviously approved 12.9 acre mine during the next permit
term. the project is located on the southeast side of East Windsor Road, approximately
0.2 miles southwest of the Susquehanna River bridge in Nineveh.

Section 1 of the Onondaga
Lake Canalways Trail will involve the construction of
approximately 4,000 m of new asphalt bike and walkway along the southwest shore of
Onondaga Lake. The intended use of the site is a non-motorized link with the West Shore
Trail (Liverpool to Geddes) to the State Fair Grounds and the Village of Solvay. The
project will be constructed on existing park lands owned by Onondaga County. This new
segment of trail will connect to the existing trail just north of Nine Mile Creek on the
west shore and end adjacent to an existing parking lot which the New York State
Fairgrounds uses for overflow parking. The trail itself will be a paved, multi-use surface
approximately 3 m wide, with 1-meter shoulders on each side. A bridge will be required
to cross Nine Mile Creek and will disturb approximately .17 acres of Freshwater Wetland
SYW10.
