ENB Region 3 Completed Applications 04/04/2007

The applicant proposes the mining of sand and gravel from 69 +/- acres on a total site of 192 +/- acres. Mining and concurrent reclamation (initially as grassland) would be done in 7 phases of 10-12 acre increments. No material processing will take place and there will be no operations on weekends. Weekday operations will be limited to 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Investigations have determined there will be no impacts on endangered species, on-site waterbodies or wetlands, or archaeological remains. Visual and noise impact analyses have been prepared and are available for review. The location is north of Turkey Hill Road, west of the intersection with Odak Farm Road.

In addition, the project is the subject of a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). A public hearing on the permit application and the DEIS will be held on May 10, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Town of Milan Town Hall located at 20 Wilcox Circle (north of Route 199).

The applicant proposes at Flint Park, an existing village park, to re-construct the playing fields,  improve the stormwater management system, and construct a new nature trail system with marsh catwalks. The applicant is also proposing to remove some existing stands of non-native Phragmites sp. and planting appropriate native shrubs and grasses.
