Positive Declaration And Public Scoping

New York City (Bronx) County - The New York City Department of Correction, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Oak Point Detention Facility may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. A public scoping session will be held on April 16, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. at the New South Bronx Police Athletic League facility at 991 Longwood Avenue, Bronx, New York. Public comment period ends April 26, 2007. The action involves the acquisition of a 27-acre parcel, construction of a detention facility, and the creation of a public through street. The project site is located in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx, west of Barry Street, east of East 149th Street, south of Bruckner Boulevard, and north of the East River in Bronx Community District 2.
