Project Description And Location: The Department is extending the public comment period to March 10, 2007 on the EIS scope for the proposed Albany Landfill Eastern Expansion. Proposed expansion consisting of a 23 acre overfill coupled with a 15 acre lateral expansion of the Albany Landfill. Project is located in the City of Albany at Rapp Road. After Lead Agency Coordination under the State Environmental Quality Review Act the Department has assumed lead agency and issued a Positive Declaration requiring an Environmental Impact Statement to be prepared. Schenectady County - The Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed ALCO Redevelopment Project may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. A public scoping session will be held on March 14, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at 433 State Street, 4th Floor, Schenectady. The Draft Scoping Document is available at Metroplex's website (www.schenectadymetroplex.org). Written comments will be accepted through the close of the public scoping meeting on March 14, 2007. The action involves the Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority's facilitation of site redevelopment by undertaking an eminent domain proceeding to take title and possession of the area generally identified as the Nott Street Industrial Park. Metroplex plans to convey the property to private developers, who will be responsible for developing mixed-use redevelopment plans that may include commercial, residential and recreational uses. The project is located at 301 Nott Street, Schenectady, NY 12305. The Park is bounded by Erie Boulevard, the Mohawk River, the Stockade section of Schenectady, and the Front Street Neighborhood.
