Project Description:
The applicant proposes to modify their existing 11.7 acre surface sand and gravel mine to add an additional 3.0 acres to the life of mine boundary within a 57.8 acre parcel on Latus Road. The project site is on property owned by the applicant and is located North of Latus Road and 500 feet east of Reservoir Road. The mine will continue to operate as a traditional surface extraction of sand and gravel from the site. Mining is not proposed for below the local water table. Excavation will be done by mechanical equipment, standard for sand and gravel mining operations. Final reclamation will restore the site to 14.7 acres of open space meadow. Reclamation will include the replacement of stockpiled topsoil, and re-seeding with an approved USDA SCS seed mixture. The total reviewed life-of-mine area is 14.7 (LOM) acres. The applicant has reclaimed 3.0 acres in the southeastern portion of the life-of-mine.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:
Project is an Unlisted Action and will not have a significant impact on the environment. A Negative Declaration is on file. A coordinated review was performed.
SEQR Lead Agency:
NYS Department of Environmental Conservation
State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:
A Structural-Archaeological Assessment Form has been completed. The proposed activity will not impact on registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures.
Coastal Management:
This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.
Opportunity for Public Comment:
Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Mar 23, 2007.
