Project Location: Approximately three miles east of the village of Waterville, off of Tassel Hill Road in the Town of Marshall
Project Description: The action involves the herbicide application to understory vegetation of undesirable species in conjunction with a timber sale. Herbicide will be applied to 9 acres. The herbicide acreage is part of 93 acres being harvested under a selection system harvest, and also a red pine conversion (to hardwoods) harvest. The predominant understory species in the herbicide area is Tatarian Honeysuckle, an invasive-exotic species. Areas surrounding the herbicide area show significant regeneration of native hardwoods, (sugar maple, black cherry and white ash) however, there is no significant amount of regeneration of native desirable species within the area to be treated with herbicide. The herbicide Roundup (or comparable Glyphosate product) will be used to treat the vegetation.
