The applicant proposes reconstruct
240 feet of timber bulkhead with a steel sheet pile
bulkhead, including 150 feet of bulkhead to be reconstructed within 27 inches of the
existing bulkhead, 40 feet to be constructed landward of the existing bulkhead and 50 feet
to be removed and replaced with a 55 foot section. The applicant also proposes to place
fill between the bulkheads as backfill, repair a 10 foot section of bulkhead and remove a
davit. Placement of fill behind the 150 foot section of bulkhead which will be located
seaward of apparent high water will result in the permanent loss of approximately 337.5
square feet of tidal wetlands known as littoral zone (SM/LZ). The project is located at the
Eatons Neck Coast Guard Station, north end of Lighthouse Road, Asharoken, Town of
Huntington, Suffolk County.
