The application is for 3
additions for a total increase of 44.6 acres to the existing 18.8
acre mine. 7.1 acres are located north of Bentley Hill Rd. The other two areas, 22.1 acres
and 15.4 acres, are south of Bentley Hill Rd. and north of the existing mine. Two
portable dry-screens, each with a maximum capacity less than 150 tons per hour, will be
used for material processing. No other changes in mine operating procedures are
proposed. The estimated life of the expanded mine is 20 years and the reclamation
objective is meadow with 3 small ephemeral ponds (run-off detention), for wildlife
habitat. The existing mine is on the east side of Thornton Rd. (Chautauqua County Route
66) south of Bentley Hill Rd.
