The applicant proposes to
mine sand, gravel and topsoil from 16.85 acres of a 24.56 acre
parcel of land with no on-site processing. It is proposed to truck excavated material to the
permittee's existing Maloy Farm Mine (DEC Facility ID 9-0644-00012) for processing.
Excavation below the groundwater is proposed, which would create a 13.3 acre lake. The
reclamation objective for the remainder of the site surrounding the lake is meadow with
no specified future use. The estimated life of the mine is 20 years. The location borders
the west side of the Niagara Mohawk (National Grid) transmission line right-of-way west
of NYS Route 60, and is on the east side of Mill Creek and its floodplain. Proposed haul
road access to the site is from Route 60 via the abandoned section of Bloomer Street that
is west of Route 60.
