The New York State Department
of Environmental Conservation, Division of Operations,
is applying for a Water
Quality Certificate for the replacement of the Colgate Lake Dam to
meet New York State Dam Safety criteria for spillway capacity and stability. Temporary
construction access will require the installation of a temporary stabilized stream crossing.
The existing earthen and
concrete dam will be removed following completion of the new
dam and the spoils from it will be spread/buried on site at an upland location northwest
of the proposed emergency spillway. The project site is located on the East Kill in the
Town of Jewett, Greene County.
