ENB Region 5 Completed Applications 12/20/2006

The applicant proposes to develop and operate a new, 27 acre surface mine involving extraction of consolidated sandstone for use as aggregate material in construction related projects.  The site, located on the west side of Lost Nation Road, 950 feet north of Merchia Road intersection, is part of a 105 acre parcel owned by Graymont Materials (NY) Inc.  Operations, over the approximately seven year life of mine, will involve blasting as well as onsite processing which will include crushing and screening. Concurrent reclamation will occur as areas are mined, with the mine floor being reclaimed to grassland surrounded by 15 to 35 foot high rock faces.

Applicant seeks to modify existing docking facility permit to include the addition of 8 floating docks (fingers) off the existing northerly main dock.   These fingers were previously installed (prior to 2004) and are on the lake shore side of the dock.   The northerly main dock has been relocated to the end of the existing pier to be in the same alignment with the southerly main dock.  The docking facility proposed will provide docking space for a total of approx. 62 boats.  All other previously permitted floating objects will remain in place (2 no wake buoys, 3 mooring buoys, 1 pump buoy and a swim enclosure).  The Adirondack Park Agency issued a permit for this expansion on January 1, 2003 (96-154E & 98-161B).
