The applicant proposes to
dredge 350,000 cubic yards of compatible sand from an
offshore borrow site located south of Watch Hill on Fire Island and place 150,000 cubic
yards of the material along 4,000 feet of a western portion of the shoreline of the park,
place 75,000 cubic yards of the material along 2,500 feet of a central portion of the
shoreline of the park and place 125,000 cubic yards of the material along 4,000 feet of an
eastern portion of the park. Beach scraping to collect material to enhance the dunes may
also be conducted along the central and eastern portions of the shoreline. The material
will be transported to the beach nourishment areas and then graded. The project is
located at Smith's Point County Park, Fire Island, Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County.
